Hello Everyone

I hope that you are all keeping well and staying safe at home.

We were all very sad to hear the news that we will not be going back to school before September. We really miss the social interaction and the face to face contact with you all.

We know that this is particularly disappointing news for our 6th class pupils as we will now not get to celebrate your leaving in the usual unique ‘Model’ way that we had become accustomed to. You have all been an important part of our lives and our school community for the past eight years so be assured that we not allow this momentous occasion to go unmarked. Not sure how or when yet but we will come up with something!

Farm Safety

As many of our pupils come from farming backgrounds I feel it is important to stress the need for extra vigilance around the farm now that the children are spending more time than usual out and about when not at school. I would draw your attention to some Teagasc child friendly videos that you may find useful to watch with your children.

School ICT Survey

We have had a wonderful response to our recent school ICT survey receiving a completed survey for 87% of our pupils. We really appreciate parents taking time to complete this for us. I will email some feedback when we have had time to analyse the results.

Some Exciting Model School News!

Green Flag

I am delighted to announce that we have been awarded our fourth Green Flag from An Taisce. Congratulations to Ms Keenan, our Green - Schools Coordinator and the hard working Green- Schools Committee who have worked tirelessly over the last two years organising surveys, class projects and lots of initiatives on the theme of Transport. Our Travel Officer Sorcha Brophy was a huge support and helped us a great deal over the two years also. Well done everyone! We await details of the Green Flag presentation which will have to take a very different format in the current situation.

(See more information & pictures from Ms Keenan on the Students section on website)

RTE Home School Hub Extra

Did anyone spot any of our pupils on the RTE Home School Hub Extra on Tuesday 12th May? There was great excitement in the home of Jessica and Georgia when they appeared on the telly. Well done girls your singing and kite flying skills are to be commended! (can be viewed on RTE player)

We are really disappointed to miss the summer term at school this year but we will do our best to factor in some enjoyable activities in our planning for home learning during the last weeks. Thank you again for keeping in touch with your teachers and sending us lots of samples of your work and lovely pictures of what you have been doing.

You will all deserve a good rest when the summer holidays eventually arrive. (Mums, Dads & teachers included!)

Take care everyone
