Food Dudes is in Progress

Food Dudes is a Healthy Eating Programme for Kids. It aims to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables both in school and at home. It is based on positive role models (the Food Dudes characters), repeated tasting and rewards. Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st class are getting 16 tasting days, while 2nd - 6th class get 8 tasting days. The science behind the programme is that if children at an early age taste new foods repeatedly, they may develop a taste for them. We call this training our taste buds.

Phase 1 of Food Dudes for the Junior classes will run from 17th January - 7th February 2019. Phase 1 for Middle and Senior classes will run from 29th January - 7th February 2019. Phase 2 begins for all classes on Friday 8th February. During Phase 2 children are encouraged to bring their own fruit and veg to school in their new dual lunchbox. We look forward to trying new fruits and vegetables and getting new ideas for our lunch boxes from our peers. Happy Tasting everyone!!

On Tuesday 19th February we expect to have our annual visit from Memory Lane photography. Watch out for notice with more details and consent form in school bags next week.

As you may know children from Senior Infants and Second Class are participating in a cross border project with two schools. The schools we are working with are St. Patrick's National School in Eskra and St. Patrick's Primary School in Aughadarragh.
